Safety & Belonging
Sustaining BIPOC Leadership Initiative
Rest, healing, wellness, mentoring and networking for leaders across the North Country — with the Adirondacks as the setting.
Our vision
A legacy of thriving, empowered, interdependent, intergenerational community leaders who manifest self-care and wellness to bring their full selves to advancing racial, social, environmental and economic justice throughout New York and beyond.
The Initiative invests in, and provides opportunities for, rest, healing, wellness, mentoring and networking for emerging and seasoned leaders who identify as Black, Indigenous and People of Color, and members of other marginalized groups. Through restorative practices, relationship-building and networking, participants build the foundation to bring their full selves to the work.
What to expect
A retreat in the Adirondacks where we create space for rejuvenation, connection and empowerment, using nature as our healer. Each cohort is then invited to networking and leadership development opportunities through the year.
Participants accepted into the program receive a detailed schedule, including full workshop descriptions, before the retreat.
Cost and travel
The retreat is free for accepted participants, including all lodging, meals, programming and activities. Each participant is responsible for their own travel; ADI helps arrange carpool groups.
